Award-winning Mexican Movie Debuts at Heartland International Film Festival

Indianapolis, IN (April 17, 2018) – Cuernavaca , directed by Alejandro Andrade Paese, will be making its international debut on April 21 at the 27th Annual Heartland International Film Festival in Indianapolis, Indiana. After its huge success at the Chicago Latino Film Festival, this award-winning Mexican drama is on its way to take over the hearts of more viewers.

“I am honored to represent and show Mexican culture at the Heartland Film Festival. Cuernavaca is my first feature film. It is based on my childhood memories. My grandmother had a house in the warm and tropical city of Cuernavaca. Her house had beautiful gardens, but they were surrounded by big walls always trying to keep them apart from the violence and dangers of the outside. She was also like that, always hiding things, trying to look perfect, but inside she was full of pain and anger. I used her story as a metaphor of my country, full of walls that try to separate the outside violence, but not being conscious that the real violence starts inside each one of us when our pain is too big and not attended,” said director Alejandro Paese.

This drama film follows the growth and development of the characters in scenes that include guava trees that grow in abundance in Cuernavaca, Morelos. The movie is intended to reflect how a boy’s persona grows and how he stops being a child during a difficult life-changing situation, in and out of the house. The word Cuernavaca in Nahuatl means in between the trees or surrounded by trees.

Heartland Film Festival is celebrating the culture of Mexico by showcasing Mexican movies, such as Cuernavaca , and offering authentic cuisine and entertainment on April 19-22.
