Dr. Jose “Carlos” Espinosa, 75, passed away Monday October 12, 2015 in Fort Wayne. Born in Santa Cruz, Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain, Jose Carlos graduated from the University of Madrid School of Medicine in 1964. He spent the next 5 years completing his internship and residency at Mt Sinai Hospital in Cleveland, OH. In 1969 he began the practice of general Surgery and peripheral vascular surgery which he did for the next 25 years, practicing in Cleveland, OH; Manistque, Ml; and Crawfordsville, IN. Moving to Fort Wayne in 1994, he began practice of Occupational medicine as Medical Director of the Fort Wayne Truck Assembly Plant, a position he held for 15 years. He then became a full time physician at the BF Goodrich plant in Woodburn, IN and continued as a part time physician at GM working until his recent hospitalization. He lived by the saying «I did what I could». He had a long history of volunteering his time in free medical clinics which helped those who could not afford medical care. Those clinics included Womankind Clinic for women with untimely pregnancies, the Near Westside Peoples Clinic, both in Cleveland, OH; Mathew 25, the Ask Clinic in Fort Wayne and he founded Clinica Madre de Dios in Fort Wayne. He was a devoted family man, avid hunter (the woods were his second home), actively worked for and spoke on behalf of the unborn and against euthanasia He always put Jesus Christ First and foremost in his life and tried to set an example for his family and everyone he met. Surviving are his wife of almost 50 years Patricia Espinosa; of Fort Wayne; children, Carla Henry, Carlos (Jenny) Espinosa, Elena (Brian) Dowell, Lucia (Brian) Johnson, Vida Espinosa, Alicia Espinosa, Marcos Espinosa, Rene Espinosa and Cristina Day; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Joshua, Victoria, Antonio, Sophia, Cody, Kyler, Chase, Ryland, Amelia, Ashley, Quinn and Sam; great-grandchildren Laikyn and Hadley; brother, Agustin Espinosa; brother-in-law Cliff Kosec. Carlos will be deeply cherished and missed by all who knew him. Mass of Christian Burial is at 11:00 am, Friday, October 16, 2015 at St. Therese Catholic Church, 2304 Lower Huntington Road with calling one hour prior. Calling at D.O. McComb and Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield Thursday, October 15, 2015, 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Burial in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
